Golf Simulator

My weekends which would normally be filled with golfing have to be replaced with my MBA classes. I have been thinking whether I can catch-up my games after I completed my studies. Anyway, in order not to lose my skills and my current 14 handicaps, I really need to do something to maintain the correct golf swings and this will definitely require a lot of practice. But how?
There have been a lot MBA assignments that I need to complete. Furthermore, my job in a bank has always been very challenging. After few months that I have been putting my golf bag aside, luckily I managed to spend about 2 hours on one Sunday evening at the driving range trying hard to figure out how did I swing previously and what did I do wrong. Everything wasn’t right when I tried few shots at first. Luckily it became smoothly only after I finished my first 100 balls. Oh man! Golf is not such an easy game. No wonder even Tiger Woods is struggling hard to bring back his glory days.

At the driving range during haze…

It will take more times for me get back to my old form if this bad weather continues. Heavy rains and lately, bad haze has made our Malaysian weather even worst. I need to do something smart and I cannot just sit at home doing nothing about my golf game.
After “googling” around from the net, I found that there’s a better way to pick-up my golf game again and at the same time I could even improve my whole game! Yes! A Golf Simulator… it is designed for indoor golf game and I don’t have to worry about bad weather and no time going to the driving range and to the golf course.

What I need is just my small study room, a laptop and a golf simulator.

There are a lot of golf simulators in the market and they are not cheap anyway. Maybe because traditionally, golf has always been associated with those with money. And for the rich and famous. Nevertheless, time has changed and now everybody can play golf. I think riding a bicycle as hobby could be even more expensive than playing golf.

It will be awesome to play golf in your room isn’t it? And you can play at most of the great golf courses around the world at your convenience in your own room!
I have found a great golf simulator which I think is the best for me in terms of pricing and also its capability. It is called “Optishot”. It is an infrared 3d golf simulator by Dancin Dogg. It has some features as follows:
  • Pinpoint accurate swing analysis in a highly realistic, three-dimensional visual golf environment.
  • Use your own clubs for practice shots from anywhere on any course.
  • Play with up to four players - Hit all shots from tee to green.
  • Expanding library of replicated world class golf courses - Par 3 Tee Feature - great for confined spaces.
  • All in the comfort of your own home
I have finally owned my own golf simulator and it is really awesome! Hope to have a lower score when I get back to the golf course soon. What I need next is a projector and a hitting screen. Wish me luck!! :)

An Introduction to MIS

First day in class today was quite interesting. We were introduced with a new way of learning by Assos. Prof. Dr Zaidy on Management Information System (MIS). His style of teaching is different from other lecturers who have thought our eMBA class. This put everybody under stress-free mode and enjoyed the class. His purpose was to get everybody to understand MIS subject as not only from an academic perspective, but also to relate with our workplace and how it could benefit the organization.
Maybe some of us might not think of the importance of MIS to their organization. MIS is a great tool to communicate all levels in an organization for specific purposes in more effective and efficient ways. According to Wikipedia, “A Management Information System (MIS) focuses on the management of information systems to provide efficiency and effectiveness of strategic decision making.” The term MIS may sometimes be interchangeable with information technology, e-commerce, information and computer science.
MIS involves the collection of information from various systems in an organization for management’s decision making. MIS will also act a tool to speed-up a process. Some of the various systems in an organization will include human resource management system, budgeting system, inventory system, customer service system, sales system, logistics system and many more. These systems will stand on its own specific purpose for better efficiency or to be collectively gathered by management for decision making process.
For example, in human resource management system (HRMS), an employee can submit his annual leave for approval by his supervisor online. This will act as a specific purpose to the employee to speed-up his leave application process via online platform. However, in view of the fact that HRMS will also cater for employee’s trainings and e-learnings, medical and emergency leave, claims and performance tracking, this will help the management during appraisal process.
